Bears Assign Forward to Reading…All-Star Headed to Manchester

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that right wing Paul Cabana has been assigned to Reading by the Hershey Bears (AHL). Cabana has been playing in Quad City of the United Hockey League. ECHL All Star Jeff Miles has been recalled by the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

Paul Cabana is expected to join the Royals this week after being assigned by the Hershey Bears. Cabana has appeared in 32 games this season with Quad City (UHL) and tallied six goals and 17 points with 29 penalty minutes. The Michigan Tech graduate has appeared in 83 ECHL games over two seasons, all with the Columbia Inferno, scored 33 goals and 30 assists, plus accumulated 63 penalty minutes. In addition, he has played in 14 Kelly Cup playoff games registering two goals for three points and 18 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in a total of 10 games with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder scored one assist and eight penalty minutes.

#24 Jeff Miles earns his first promotion to Manchester this season. The Pickering, Ontario native is currently the Royals leading scorer (17-16=33). His 17-goals are tied for the league lead among rookies. Plus, the 6-foot, 202-pound forward is sixth in scoring and second in plus/ minus rating (+16). Miles has scored two goals in a game six times this season and has a club-high 10 multiple-point efforts. He was named the Reebok Hockey – ECHL Plus Performer of the Month in November (+11). He and linemate Ryan Kinasewich are scheduled to represent the Royals and the National Conference in the 13th Annual ECHL All-Star Game presented by Coors Light on January 26.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.

The Royals host a pair of games this week in the Sovereign Center. Reading will play back-to-back games against Trenton on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. ET. CTCE Federal Credit Union is handing out Royals lunch sacks to the first 1,000 youngsters 12-and-under on Friday. Saturday, Diamond Credit Union is presenting the first 2,500 fans through the gate an ECHL All Star action card of Ryan Kinasewich. It's also "Fill the boot night" at the Sovereign Center. The Reading Fire Department will be collecting money on the concourse for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
