San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Gulls and left-winger Wes Rypien have agreed to terms for the remainder of the 2004-05 season, head coach Martin St. Amour announced Wednesday. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rypien, 22, joins the Gulls after beginning the season with the Fresno Falcons and Bakersfield Condors. In 12 games combined with Fresno and Bakersfield, he recorded one assist and 50 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 200-pound native of Blairmore, Alberta began his professional career last season for Fresno. Rypien, however, retains rookie status after appearing in just three games in 2003-04 due to injury.

Rypien, who will be in the lineup Wednesday against the Las Vegas Wranglers, will wear No. 8.
