Bombers Beat Nailers 4-1 Wednesday Night

Canonsburg, PA – The Dayton Bombers beat the Wheeling Nailers 4-1 in front of 833 at the Icoplex at Southpointe Wednesday night. The Bombers last road win was a 4-3 shootout victory over the Trenton Titans on November 12, 2004 – ten games ago.

The Bombers opened the scoring at 16:02 of the first period when GRADY MOORE took a slapshot from the right point that was accidentally deflected by Nailers defenseman Ray DiLauro past goaltender Dany Sabourin. It was the first time in nine games the Bombers scored first, and Dayton led 1-0 after the first period.

There was no scoring in the second period. ALEX JOHNSTONE gave the Bombers a 2-0 lead with his first goal of the season 1:21 seconds into the third period. TYLER KOLARIK (4:51) and BEN KNOPP (16:03) made it 4-0, before Randy Perry scored a shorthanded goal to snap the shutout bid of MIKE AYERS with only 1:48 remaining.

The Bombers return to action Saturday night when they travel to the Toledo Sports Arena to face the Toledo Storm at 7:30 PM. "The Coaches Corner-Pre Game Show" starts at 7:20 PM on SportsOne, WONE-AM 980 and at daytonbombers.com.
