
Ch. 4 San Diego To Televise All-Star Game

SAN DIEGO â Channel 4 San Diego has announced that it will televise the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game, which can be seen live Wednesday Jan. 26, starting at 4 p.m. (PST)
The All-Star Game will be carried on other various television networks across the country, reaching more than 28 million households. John Curtis of the Reading Royals will handle the play-by-play duties while former New York Rangers President and General Manager and current ESPN, TSN and NHL Network analyst Neil Smith will be the color commentator. Josh Fisher of the Las Vegas Wranglers will handle in-game and between-period interviews with players, coaches and representatives from the ECHL and NHL.
For the third consecutive year, the telecast will be available live to subscribers of the NHL Network in Canada while also being available live on Comcast Charter Sports Southeast and America One. The television broadcast was offered free of charge to all ECHL teams and will be carried live in the following ECHL markets: Idaho (Cable One), Peoria (Insight Media), and San Diego (Cox Cable). The game will be televised on tape delay by Comcast Detroit, Cox Sports Television Louisiana and CN8.
The ECHL, in association with Yahoo! Broadcast, is also making the telecast available online with live broadband video for the third year in a row. The live broadcast video requires a minimum connection speed of 100 Kbytes and Real Player. Dial-up customers will be able to listen to the radio broadcast on Yahoo! Broadcast, marking the seventh consecutive year that Yahoo! Broadcast has carried the ECHL All-Star Game audio broadcast live on the Internet.
Sponsored by Coors Light and hosted by the Reading Royals, the 13th Annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition will be held at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. The Skills Competition will be held Tuesday and the game will be played at 4 p.m. PST on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
Andrew Canzanello and equipment manager Matt Mitchell are the San Diego Gulls' all-star representative. Canzanello is in his first professional season after spending the last four years at Colorado College. In 29 games so far this season (as of Wednesday), the rookie defenseman has scored 13 points (3g, 13a), while amassing 33 penalty minutes.
