Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Traverse City Beach Bums had their scheduled contest with the Rockford RiverHawks postponed due to rain on Wednesday. The rain started in the morning and continued steadily through most of the day.

The two teams will play a doubleheader at Rockford's Road Ranger Stadium on Thursday, July 9, at 7:05 pm Eastern Time. Both games will be seven innings in length. The rainout is the second of the season for the Beach Bums.

Traverse City dropped the opener of the series last night by the score of 7-5 as Rockford rallied twice from deficits.

The Beach Bums have already played two doubleheaders this season and are 1-3 in doubleheader games in 2009. Tomorrow's third twinbill will be the most doubleheaders played in a season in Beach Bums history. Traverse City split a pair of games at Wuerfel Park against Southern Illinois on May 28, falling 1-0 in 11 innings and posting a 7-3 decision in the second contest. The Beach Bums also had a scheduled doubleheader at Evansville on June 7 due to a scheduling conflict at Bosse Field. Evansville swept both nine-inning games, winning 8-2 and 7-3.

Traverse City played two doubleheaders during the 2008 season and one each in 2006 and 2007. The Beach Bums are 5-7 all-time in doubleheader contests. The doubleheader is also the third of the season for Rockford, who is 1-3 in doubleheader contests including 0-2 in the two games played at Road Ranger Stadium early in the season.

RHP David Dinelli (0-1, 2.70) takes the ball for the Beach Bums in the first game with RHP David Nathanson (1-6, 4.50) scheduled to go in game two. Rockford will place RHP Jay Monti (4-3, 5.10) on the hill in game one and LHP Matt Enderle (0-1, 2.92) in game two. Both contests can be heard live on the Fox FM beginning with the Labatt Blue On Deck Show at 6:45.
