Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti News Release

Clay McCord and James Albury teamed up Wednesday night and extended the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti's winning streak to five games. The Sliders beat the River City Rascals 5-0 at EMU's Oestrike Stadium.

Albury had another strong outing that showed why he was voted a Frontier League All Star. He threw seven innings not allowing a run, and only two hits. The win improved Albury's record to 6-1 and tied him with most wins in the Frontier League.

The Sliders jumped on Rascal pitching in their first at bats scoring three runs. Clay McCord hit a single that plated Jimmy Baker and Gil Zayas to make it 3-0.

Zayas and Robbie Knapp both singled to leadoff the fourth, then scored on another McCord single. McCord finished the night 3-3 with a double, and four RBI's.

Thursday the Sliders will go for their second straight sweep at 7:05 p.m. in Oestrike Stadium. Jeff Fischer (2-0, 2.89) will toe the rubber for Midwest against Tyler Musselwhite (3-2, 5.21) of River City.
