Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti News Release
AVON, OH, September 6, 2009 The Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti fell in the season finale to the Lake Erie Crushers 6-1. The Sliders finished the season 12 games under .500 at 42-54. They could only muster up one run in the final game of the season.
Three consecutive singles in the seventh inning led to the Sliders only run of the game. Clay McCord came around to score when Robbie Knapp hit a single into right field.
By then the game was already in had as the Crushers already had 5-1 lead. They scored again in the eighth to tack on the sixth run.
For Midwest they will head into the offseason on a sour note on the field. Lake Erie will play in the Frontier League playoffs starting next week.
