River City Rascals News Release
MARION, IL - The Rascals ended the 2009 regular season with an 11-6 loss Sunday night to the Miners in front of 4,998 at Rent One Park. River City finished the season at 56-38 and will open up round one of the playoffs Tuesday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark against the Windy City ThunderBolts.
River City (56-38) never led in the game and trailed 11-3 at one point. The Rascals threatened with three runs in the seventh. Chad Maddox doubled and Brett Scarpetta (7-4) issued back-to-back walks to Ernie Banks and Jorge Gutierrez to load the bases. Chris Colton singled home one run and Josh Banda knocked in two more for the 11-6 final. Kevin Dooley came on and retired the next three hitters to end the frame.

Southern Illinois (56-40), eliminated from the playoffs courtesy of a 10-4 Windy City win in Rockford, scored four times in the third and added five more in the fourth. Joey Metropoulos launched his 31st home run and Jereme Milons knocked in two more in the third for a 6-2 lead.
Milons was at it again in the fourth with an RBI double, his fourth hit in the game. Stephen Holdren added a run scoring single and Landon Camp drove in two with his second triple of the season to push the lead up to 11-3 at the end of four.
