Crushers Extra Inning win Earns them Playoff Birth

AVON, OH - Lake Erie Crushers won in the 11th inning, 11-10 over Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti to clinch a playoff birth.

The Sliders looked like they had this one in hand in up 5-1 in the fourth inning. Five hits in the second inning built the led, highlighted by Zach Pace's two run single.

Lake Erie built a comeback off Sliders bullpen in the late innings to tie the game up sending it to extras. They scored with their backs against the wall in the ninth to send it to the tenth.

In the tenth Midwest looked like they put it away again as they put up four runs on the board. Joash Brodin hit a three-run bomb to put Sliders up 10-6 in extra innings the game look out of reach for Crushers.

The resilient Crushers came storming back and hit a two-run bomb of their own to tie to the and send it to the 11th.

Lake Erie finally hit a walk off single that empty the dugout in not only a victory celebration; But celebration for advancing to the Frontier League Playoffs.

Sliders play their final game of the 2009 season Sunday against the Crushers at 5:05 p.m.
