Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti News Release


Jeff Fischer threw seven shutout innings as the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti swept the Traverse City Beach Bums with a 2-1 victory.

Fischer earned his fifth win of the season and struck out six while only walking one batter.

The Sliders had to scratch out their two runs in the pitchers duel Wednesday night. In the third Bryan Bonner singled, advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Garrett Maines. Bonner reached third, and scored on a Clay McCord sacrifice fly.

Jeremy Jones doubled to leadoff the seventh inning, Mained singled up the middle to put the Sliders up 2-0.

After the Bums cut the lead to 2-1 in the eighth, Earl Oakes slammed the door earning the save not allowing a hit in the ninth.

Thursday Midwest will enjoy a day off before entering their final series this weekend at Lake Erie for three games. Fridays game begins at 7:05 p.m.
