
Wild Things Fall to Kings 7-1

Washington, PA -- The Washington Wild Things (41-51), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, were able to break up a no hitter in the seventh inning and a shut out in the ninth, but still fell to the East Division Leading Kalamazoo Kings by a score of 7-1 at CONSOL Energy Park Wednesday night.
The Kings dominated the Wild Things throughout the game, scoring two runs in the first inning and two in the fourth. John Brownell, the Kings' right handed starter allowed no hits until the bottom of the seventh inning when Jacob Dempsey spoiled, smacking a line drive through center field.
Kalamazoo continued to score when Amos Ramon smacked a solo shot over the scoreboard in the eighth inning, and Kyle Higgins smacked a two run homer in the ninth for insurance.
The Wild Things saved themselves from the shutout in the ninth inning when Matt Sutton flied out to plate Ryan Groth who tripled.
The Wild Things' starting pitcher Jason Neitz (5-5) took the loss for Washington, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings of work. Michael Lucas pitched four strong innings in relief.
The Wild Things and Kings meet for game three of this series Thursday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Airtime on WJPA 95.3 F.M. is 6:55. Tickets are available at the box office.
