
Wild Things Strong on the Mound, Win 8-2

Washington, Pa.- The Washington Wild Things (18-26), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Southern Illinois Miners (25-19) Wednesday night by a score of 8-2.
The Wild Things took a four run lead in the first inning. Michael Parker scored the first run of the game on an Ernie Banks double. Jacob Dempsey and Grant Psomas followed with back-to-back homeruns.
In the fifth inning, the Miners cut the lead in half. Patrick Perry scored on a sacrifice fly by Jimmy Viscomi and Michael Higa drove in Pedro Lopez with a single.
The Wild Things scored again in the bottom of the fifth. Psomas singled, driving in Banks. Washington secured the win in the eighth with three more runs, including Psomas' second homerun of the game.
Craig Snipp earned the win for the Wild Things with a strong performance on the mound. In five and a third innings, he allowed two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Michael Lucas, Justin Edwards and Nick Peterson pitched well in relief, combining for three and a two-third innings of scoreless baseball.
The losing pitcher was Brett Scarpetta for the Miners. Scarpetta allowed five runs on seven hits.
