
Three Sliders Heading to All Star Game

Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti News Release
Jimmy Baker, Roberto Mena, and James Albury are representing the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti in the 17th Annual Frontier League All Star Game. The game will be played at Road Ranger Stadium in Loves Park, Illinois (Rockford Riverhawks) on Wednesday, July 15th, at 7:05 p.m.
First baseman Jimmy Baker will start for the East Division in the game. Baker is fourth in the league with a .348 average. He's also belted nine homers, drove in 32 runs, and owns an impressive on base percentage .444.
Roberto Mena tied with Florence Freedom's Brad Hough for votes at Shortstop in the East Division. Mena has hit a steady .301 for the Sliders hitting mostly in the two spot. He is third in the league for triples, hitting four so far this season. Roberto has played in all but one game this season, he plays the most grueling position, shortstop, and has only made seven errors.
Starting pitcher James Albury will pitch for the East All Stars after posting a phenomenal first half showing for Midwest. Albury is third for league's best ERA with an astonishing 1.92 runs per nine innings. In the 51.2 innings James has pitched he has only allowed two home runs while striking out 42 batters. He has won five games in his eight starts for Midwest.
22 players have been selected for each squad. The team's in first place in both leagues after games on July 8th will be able to manager their respected divisions. Each manager will select three more players on July 9th to complete the 25 man roster for the game.
