Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
CRESTWOOD, IL - The Traverse City Beach Bums saw Jacob Clem allow just one earned run over seven innings of work, but a trio of unearned runs in the third inning allowed the Windy City ThunderBolts to slip by the Beach Bums 4-0.
Windy City got the first runs of the game in the third inning as they plated three unearned runs, two coming on a Chad Cregar single with the bases loaded. The ThunderBolts brought home another run in the sixth on a Cregar homer to go up 4-0.
The starting pitchers turned out to be the story in the ballgame. Jacob Clem (2-3) went seven strong innings allowing just three hits and one earned run. He walked one and struck out three. Unfortunately for the Beach Bums, Stephen Sauer (4-1) did not allow a run over seven-plus innings, scattering seven hits, walking two and striking out seven.
Offensively for Traverse City, Brian Heere and Kyle Colligan had two hits apiece.
The Beach Bums now head home for a six-game homestand opening up on Saturday against the London Rippers. Reid Kelly (3-1, 3.58) will get the start for Traverse City against Sheng-An Kuo (0-3, 3.26) for the Rippers. Saturday night is Date Night at Wuerfel Park where it is the perfect time to for a first date, an anniversary date or a daddy-daughter night.
