London Rippers News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO - Matt Wright's two-RBI triple in the 6th elevated the London Rippers (14-19) to a 4-2 win over Lake Erie (14-19), splitting the doubleheader.

The first two Rippers got on with singles in the 6th and were moved up a base on the sacrifice bunt by Aaron Glaum.

Matt Wright then hammered his triple to straight away centerfield, bringing home Jim Vahalik and Clifton Thomas.

"I was just looking for a pitch to elevate." Wright says, "He left the pitch across the plate and I was able to capitalize on it."

London started hot with three straight singles to open the game. They scored their only run of the 1st inning on a sacrifice fly by Mark Samuelson.

Lake Erie took over the lead in the next inning. Jason Taylor stroked a two-run homer in the top of the 2nd, putting the Crushers ahead, 2-1.

After that, Brandon Sinnery (1-0) shut the door, going 6 strong innings, allowing only four hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out three.

Joash Brodin scored on a throwing error in the 3rd to tie the game at 2-2.

London closer, David Francis, gave up a single and a walk before recording his 5th save of the year.

The Rippers head to Traverse City to prepare for a three game series against the East Division-leading Beach Bums, starting tomorrow night. Game time is 7:05pm.
