Lake Erie Crushes Rippers in Game One

LONDON, ONTARIO - Two four-run innings by Lake Erie (14-18) helped the Crushers cruise to an 11-5 win over London (13-19) in Game 1 of a day-night doubleheader.

Lake Erie put up two runs in the first inning on a bases loaded walk to Andrew Davis and a sacrifice fly by Rogelio Noris.

London starter, Eric Katzman (1-3) did not get out of the 3rd inning, coughing up four runs - two earned - in the frame and left the game to Matt Sommo.

Sommo pitched 2.2 innings and gave up an unearned run on two hits and one strikeout.

Matt Wright homered to lead off the 3rd inning, bringing to Rippers closer at 6-1.

Lake Erie scored an unearned run in the 4th, but London made it 7-2 in the 5th when Aaron Glaum singled, stole second and was able to score on a wild pitch that eluded Lake Erie catcher, Rich Witten.

Adam Arnold was touched up for four more runs in the 6th inning, highlighted by a two run homer by Rogelio Noris, increasing the Crushers' lead to 11-2.

Davis and Noris both drove in three runs for Lake Erie.

The Rippers did put up three runs in the 7th inning; two on two separate wild pitches, but could not get any closer.

Shane Bagley went 3-for-4 with three singles in his London Rippers' debut.

Game 2 of the doubleheader will start at 7pm. London throws Brandon Sinnery (0-0 0.00) against Paul Fagan (2-3 3.33).
