Baysox Celebrate Thanksgiving Early

June 20, 2013 - Eastern League (EL) - Bowie Baysox News Release

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today Thanksgiving in June at Prince George's Stadium Thursday, June 27, as the team takes on the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 p.m. And what is Thanksgiving without it's follow-up Orange and ‘Black Friday' Night the following evening June 28 at 7:05 p.m.

Thursday's Thanksgiving celebration includes a turkey petting zoo outside the stadium and a canned food drive. Fans can get $3 off a box seat ticket for each can of food they donate (max: three cans) at the box office the day of the game. There will also be a special turkey dinner served at the Black Angus Grille and Thanksgiving games and crafts on the main stadium concourse.

Black Friday's doorbuster specials include discounts for fans arriving to the game early and specials in Louie's Locker Room all game long. Come to the Baysox ticket office the day of the game before 5:30 p.m. wearing orange or black and get a discounted $10 box seat ticket. The first 250 fans to arrive that day also get $5 off a ticket to a future Baysox home game (excluding July 3). There will also be more chances to win autographed items, tickets and more during raffles throughout the game.

Baysox Promotions Manager Chris Rogers helped organize this event. "There are a multitude of great holidays that don't fall during the baseball season," Rogers explained. "This season we have decided to move Thanksgiving up a few months into June. We'll prove that turkey feasts and holiday parades are just as fun in June as they are in November. Fans will get to see real live turkeys and participate in a food drive to help the hungry, who need help year-round. Furthermore, it would be a holiday season oversight to celebrate Thanksgiving and ignore Black Friday's shopping extravaganza on our next gameday."
