(April 30,) 2009 - Think Outside The Box this weekend and through Thursday, May 7th! Get out of the house and away from your television and join us for a great second home stand of 2009!We have an action packed seven-game home stand for you! It will feature a rematch of the first series of the year as we face off against Akron this Friday through Sunday. Then the Trenton Thunder (Class AA Affiliate of the N.Y. Yankees) comes to town this Monday, May 4th through Thursday, May 7th for their only trip to Bowie this season! Baysox Gearing Up For Home Stand This Weekend Bowie has started out the season hovering around the .500 mark and will enter Friday night's action with a record of 9-10, placing them right in the middle of the pack in the E.L.'s Southen Division.
Akron is pacing the pack with a 15-4 record and a 2 game lead over second place Reading. Akron comes to town this weekend and will face off against Bowie's scheduled starters of Bobby Livingston (Friday), Jake Arrieta (Saturday) and Sean Gleason (Sunday). Note: Starting rotation is subject to change. Who's Hot?On the pitching side of the field, the Baysox top of the rotation has been outstanding with Troy Patton, Jake Arrieta and Brandon Erbe leading the way.
Their stats through Wednesday, April 29th are:Troy Patton: 2-0; 1.21 ERA; 15 K's; 3 Earned Runs allowed in 22.1 IPJake Arrieta: 2-0; 2.00 ERA; 22 K's; 4 Earned Runs aAllowed in 18.0 IPBrandon Erbe: 1-3; 0.90 ERA; 19 K's; 2 Earned Runs allowed in 20.0 IPAdd that to reliever Wilfrido Perez's 0-0; 0.00 ERA; 4 saves and 11 K's plus the combined staff ERA of 3.51 and the pitchers are having a good time of it through the first 19 games of the season. On the offensive side, 1B Brandon Snyder leads the charges with his .357 average with 2 HR and 13 RBI's. His 25 hits rank 2nd in the league (to our own Miguel Abreu's 26). Bowie's cumulative average of .263 ranks second in the league to Portland's .278. Recent addition to the lineup, OF Joe Nowicki has played 4 games with Bowie, going .267 with 3 RBI's and 2 doubles. Also heating up at the plate are INF Miguel Abreu (.333/1/9) and INF/DH Paco Figueroa (.310/0/6).K What?Through 19 games, the Baysox offense has amassed 111 strikeouts, putting them on pace for 829 K's throughout the season. The Baysox team record is 1,023, set during the 2001 season. Conversely, the pitching staff has K'ed 142 batters this season putting them on pace to record 1,061 K's this season which would put them 5th on the all-time list, right behind the 2006 team which amassed 1,080 K's as a staff. The team record is 1,168 set in 2005.
