READING, PA - The Altoona Curve connected for 18 hits on their way to winning a slugfest over the Reading Phillies 12-7 in the series finale at Reading.

Reading jumped out early plating four runs in the bottom of the first, however Altoona would answer quickly tying the game in the top half of the second with catcher Steve Lerud hitting a two run double followed by RBI doubles by Angel Gonzalez and Anderson Machado.

Reading would retake the lead with one run in the second, and then a two run home run by Michael Taylor to give the Phils a 7-4 lead.

The Curve would take control of the ballgame in the fifth scoring five runs and taking their first lead of the night after back to back home runs by Jamie Romak, a three run blast, and Lerud on a solo shot giving the Curve a 9-7 advantage.

Altoona would add three insurance runs in the seventh on a two run double by Jason Delaney and an RBI single by Jonel Pacheco.

Seven Curve players had multi-hit nights with Romak and Lerud going 2-5 with a double home run each. Pacheco would finish 3-4 with two RBIs.

Altoona (6-14) will return home Friday to begin a three game series with the Erie SeaWolves. Altoona will throw Lefty Daniel Moskos (1-1, 5.94) while Erie will counter with right hander Brooks Brown (2-0, 0.00). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 with radio coverage beginning at 6:05 on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.

The first 2,000 fans into Blair Country Ballpark Friday will receive Altoona Curve umbrellas. The gates are scheduled to open at 5:30.
