New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- Brad Emaus (2-for-5, RBI) tripled and scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning and doubled in a run in the bottom of the tenth, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell to the New Britain Rock Cats 3-2 before 5,801 on Thursday afternoon.

New Hampshire (12-8) trailed 1-0 going to the bottom of the ninth inning when Emaus tripled off Rock Cats closer Anthony Slama (2-0). David Cooper then hit a fly to center, allowing Emaus to score the tying run.

Whit Robbins (2-for-5, HR, RBI) homered off Fisher Cats reliever Leon Boyd (0-1) to lead off the top of the tenth inning to give New Britain a 2-1 lead. Wilson Ramos walked, moved to second on a sacrifice, advanced to third on a ground out, and scored on a single by Brian Dinkelman (3-for-4, RBI) as the Rock Cats opened a 3-1 lead. They were the first runs allowed by Boyd this season in six outings. Boyd had entered the game in the top of the ninth inning with two Rock Cats on base and ended that threat without allowing a run.

Emaus was thrown out at third base trying to advance on a ball in the dirt to David Cooper. Although Cooper singled, Frank Mata got Brian Dopirak to fly out to end the game and earn his first save. Slama (2-0) gets credit for his second win.

New Britain (8-11) had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning off starting pitcher Rei Gonzalez. They delivered four consecutive singles to score the run, the final hit by Matt Moses (2-for-5), plated Ramos (2-for-4, 2 R).

Gonzalez allowed one run in 6.0 innings of work, allowing 11 singles, walking one and striking out five.

New Britain starter Cole Devries had his finest outing of the season, working six scoreless innings. Jose Lugo and Rob Delaney each worked a scoreless inning in relief for the Rock Cats.

The Fisher Cats concluded the homestand with 3-4 record which included three extra-inning losses, including two in this series to New Britain.
