
Bautista's Two Homeruns Lift Captains to 6-3 Win

Lake County Captains News Release
(Midland, MI)- Claudio Bautista hit two homeruns and the Lake County Captains beat the Great Lakes Loons by a final of 6-3 on Monday Night. Bautista's second homer came in the top of the seventh inning and gave the Captains a 5-2 lead. Bautista now has five homeruns on the season. The Captains as a team have smacked 40 over the fence in 2014.
In the first, Claudio Bautista hit his fourth homerun of the season to deep left field. The homer was the second of the series for Bautista. The solo shot gave Lake County the early 1-0 lead.
Great Lakes (28-30) tied the ballgame in the bottom of the third inning. Alex Santana doubled and scored on a Brandon Trinkwon double and the score was even at 1-1.
Lake County (20-38) scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs and Clint Frazier on first base, Paul Hendrix tripled to right field and the score was 2-1 Captains. Eric Haase followed with a single to right field and the Captains led 3-1.
The Loons cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs, Malcolm Holland Walked and moved to third on a single. Holland scored on a wild pitch and the lead was down to one run at 3-2 Lake County. Great Lakes got a run back in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Loons used three hits including a RBI single from Webster Rivas and the score was 5-3 Captains headed to the eighth inning.
Lake County added a run in the top of the eighth inning. Dorssys Paulino tripled to start the rally. With two outs, Shane Rowland singled to center, his second hit on the day and second RBI of the season gave the Captains the 6-3 advantage.
LHP Luis Lugo (3-4) started for Lake County and earned the win. Lugo pitched five and two thirds innings. Luis yielded two earned runs on three hits, two walks and he fanned five. Alexis Paredes entered in relief and twirled two and one third innings. Paredes allowed five hits and one earned run. Paredes struck out one. Trevor Frank earned the save in the ninth, his fourth of the season.
RHP Zachary Bird (3-8) started for Great Lakes and took the loss. Bird pitched five innings and allowed eight hits, three earned runs and one walk. Bird struck out four. The Loons used three pitchers out of the bullpen. The pen combined to pitch four innings of relief and allowed four hits, three earned runs, one walk and five strikeouts.
The Captains enjoy an off day on Tuesday. On Wednesday the Captains will welcome the Fort Wayne TinCaps to Classic Park. Lake County will start RHP Zach McAllister (0-0, 0.00). McAllister is making the rehab start for the Cleveland Indians. After McAllister, Lake County will send RHP Caleb Hamrick (1-3, 8.62) to the mound. First Pitch is at 7:00 PM.
The Lake County Captains, class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, with the help of Cleveland's own Five Star Brand Meats, will present Dime Dog Night on Wednesday, June 4 at Classic Park during the game versus the Fort Wayne Tin Caps. Game time is 7 PM.
Fans in attendance will be able to purchase 100% all beef hot dogs for only a dime throughout the game. There will be a minimum five wiener purchase with each transaction.
