GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars will welcome a trio of former Chicago Cubs as part of the Cougars' Chicago Sports Night on Thursday, June 26. Lee Smith, Gary Matthews and Steve Trout will be at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark and sign autographs for fans for a limited time during the game. The 6:30 p.m. game that evening includes a post-game fireworks show set to popular Chicago sports music and an appearance before the game outside the ballpark by the Chicago Bears drum line. That evening, fans can also enjoy a Thirsty Thursday presented by Miller Lite that includes $1 select beers, sodas and hot dogs.

Lee Smith played in the Major Leagues for 18 seasons, serving mostly as a relief pitcher during his storied career. Smith held the big league record for career saves until 2006 when San Diego's Trevor Hoffman passed Smith's final total of 478. Smith made his Major League debut with the Cubs in 1980.

Steve Trout went 13-7 during the 1984 season for the Cubs. The left-hander was a 1st round pick by the White Sox in 1976 and over the course of his 12-year big league career, Trout won 88 games.

Gary Matthews, along with Smith and Trout, were key contributors to the Cubs' 1984 National League East Division Championship team. Matthews, nicknamed "Sarge", enjoyed a 16-year big league career that began with the San Francisco Giants in 1972.
