(Cedar Rapids-IA)- The Burlington Bees' hit three home runs on their way to a 6-4 win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Monday afternoon, taking two out of three in the series at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Chad Hinshaw opened the scoring for the Bees in the first inning, doubling down the left field line, driving in Kody Eaves, putting the Bees on top 1-0. Later in the inning Brandon Bayardi lined a single in to center scoring Chad Hinshaw, putting the Bees up 2-0 after the first inning.
Cedar Rapids cut the Bees' lead to one, plating Bryan Harr on a Jason Kanzler, making the score 2-1 after two innings.
The Bees' got the two run lead back at 3-1 in the third when Brandon Bayardi singled to right scoring Chad Hinshaw.
Ryan Dalton, returning from the disabled list, crushed his second home run of the season, giving the Bees a 4-1 lead in the fourth.
For the second time this season, the Bees went to back-to-back. Kody Eaves led off the fifth inning with his fourth homerun of the season and Chad Hinshaw followed suit with his fifth of the year, The two long balls extended the Bees' lead to 6-1.
With the Bees leading 6-2 in the ninth, Chad Christiansen homered to left cutting the Bees' lead to 6-3. Jason Kanzler would later single in Mitch Garver and the Bees' lead was just two. With the tying run at first, Alan Busenitz got the Bees out of the jam and secured the 6-4 win.
Bees' reliever Brian Loconsole (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, while Kernels' starter Derrick Penilla (1-2) was charged with the loss. Alan Busenitz (7) earned the save.
