
Dragons Announce Nominees for Players of the Month for May

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons have announced their nominees for the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for May. Fans can go to www.daytondragons.com to vote for the players whom they who they feel are most deserving of the award based on the month.
Each month, three hitters and three pitchers will be selected as nominees based on their performances on the field. The winning players will be honored on Tuesday, June 10th during an inning break of the Dragons game. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon on Wednesday, June 11th at Chick-fil-A, 2360 N. Fairfield Road in Beavercreek (near Target; across from the Mall at Fairfield Commons) at 12:00 noon. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.
Below are the nominees for May (statistics for May games only):
Hitter of the Month Nominees:
- Sebastian Elizalde (outfielder): Batted .324 with four doubles, four home runs, 14 runs batted in, 9 runs scored, with a slugging percentage of .549 and an on-base percentage of .417 in 19 games.
- Jamodrick McGruder (second baseman): Batted .304 with three doubles, three triples, one home run, 11 runs batted in, 16 runs scored, with a slugging percentage of .422 and an on-base percentage of .388 in 25 games.
- Tanner Rahier (third baseman): Batting .286 with three doubles, three home runs, 8 runs batted in, 12 runs scored, with a slugging percentage of .442 and an on-base percentage of .374 in 21 games.
Pitcher of the Month Nominees:
- Nick Travieso: Posted a record of 3-1 with a 4.70 earned run average in six starts. In 30.2 innings, allowed 27 hits with 6 walks and 22 strikeouts.
- Zack Weiss: Posted a record of 1-0 with a 0.84 earned run average in four relief appearances. In 10.2 innings, allowed 5 hits with 5 walks and 12 strikeouts.
- Daniel Wright: Posted a record of 2-2 with a 2.33 earned run average in five games. In 27 innings, allowed 24 hits with five walks and 30 strikeouts. Promoted to Bakersfield on May 26.
