LOUISVILLE, Ky - The Louisville Bats won the first game of a three game series against the Norfolk Tides, 1-0 at Louisville Slugger Field. Right fielder Kyle Waldrop belted his fourth home run of the season for the walk-off win.

Right handed pitcher Keyvius Sampson (0-1, 0.00) made a spot start today in place of John Lamb. Along with right handed pitchers Layne Somsen, Chad Rogers, Dayan Diaz, Sampson and the Bats pitchers threw their second straight shutout. The Tides only put two runners in scoring position all night as pitching held the upper hand.

The Louisville pitchers retired the final 13 Tides hitters. Louisville only mustered six hits all night. The Bats had a chance to break the scoreless tie in the eighth inning, but they left the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the ninth, right fielder Kyle Waldrop broke the tie and ended the game on a 1-0 pitch that landed over the right field fence. It was the first walk-off home run for the Bats since May 8th, 2014.

Sampson finished his night after three and one-third innings, allowing two hits and one walk throwing 51 pitches, 31 of those for strikes. He finished with a no decision.

Game two of the series will feature right handed pitcher Josh Smith (2-1, 1.13) for the Bats and left handed pitcher Ariel Miranda (0-1, 4.29) for the Tides tomorrow with first pitch at 7:05 pm.
