Bats Lose to Clippers, 12-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats were defeated in the first game of a three-game series against the Columbus Clippers at Louisville Slugger Field, 12-2. The Clippers scored quickly, hitting four home runs in the first four innings. Clippers first baseman Jesus Aguilar had a multi-home run game, going 3-for-5.

Starting pitcher for the Clippers, righty Will Roberts (4-1, 3.00) earned the win after pitching seven innings, allowing two runs and one walk while ringing in three strike outs.

Starting for the Bats was Reds' right-hander Jon Moscot (0-2, 9.82) who took the loss after giving up 11 hits and nine runs in four innings and striking out four.

Louisville put their first run on the board in the bottom of the fourth after shortstop Jose Peraza scored on a left fielder Scott Schebler single. The Bats cut the deficit to 11-2 in the bottom of the sixth, after designated hitter Jermaine Curtis scored on a right-fielder Jess Winker single.

The Bats bullpen pitched five innings, giving up five hits, three runs and one walk, while tallying four strike outs. Center fielder Hernan Iribarren made his ninth career pitching for the Bats and tossed a perfect ninth inning, striking out one.

The Clippers scored in six of the nine innings at the plate, including each of the first five.

The Bats seek to tie the series tomorrow when right-hander Daniel Wright (1-0, 1.29) takes the mound against Clippers right-hander Jarrett Grube (0-1, 3.54) at 6:05 p.m.
