
Bats Clinch Win against Red Wings, 5-4

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Bats won the second game of a three-game series against the Rochester Red Wings 5-4 on Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field after a 111 minute rain delay. Right fielder Jesse Winker brought in a run in the bottom of the second that marked the end of a 21 and one-third inning cold streak.
The Red Wings got off to a fast start with a solo home run in the first inning, but the Bats tied it up early on with a run in the bottom of the second.
The score remained tied until the bottom of the third when Bats third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean brought in two on his single to left field, and left fielder Scott Schebler scored one on his single to center, which brought the score to 4-1.
Rochester tied the game for the second time of the night in the top of the sixth after an RBI single, followed by a two-run homer.
Schebler's second RBI of the night was a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to bring the game back in Louisville's control, 5-4.
Reds' right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (0-1, 5.14), who made his third rehab start with the Bats, struck out two in six innings, and gave up eight hits and four runs, including two homers. Relief pitcher Wandy Peralta (2-1, 5.84) earned the win after throwing one inning, giving up one hit but no runs. Jumbo Diaz earned his team-leading sixth save on the night.
Starting pitcher for Rochester, lefty Jason Wheeler (4-1, 2.05) threw six innings, gave up eight hits and four runs, and threw six strikeouts. The loss went to Ryan O'Rourke (1-1, 3.60) after pitching one and one-third innings, giving up three hits, and the decisive run in the eighth.
The Bats face the Red Wings once more tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. with right-hander Chad Rogers (2-2, 2.03) to take the mound for Louisville against Rochester's right-hander Kyle Gibson (0-3, 6.10).
