West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
DAYTON, OH - In his final regular-season start, pitcher Brad Bass delivered six strong innings to help the West Michigan Whitecaps beat the Dayton Dragons by a score of 6-2 Wednesday night at Fifth Third Field.
West Michigan remains one game behind Fort Wayne in the Midwest League Eastern Division wildcard race after the TinCaps beat the Lake County Captains on Wednesday night by a score of 3-1.
The Whitecaps took an early lead and never looked back, as Jordan Pearce opened the scoring with a run-scoring double and Wenceel Perez lined an RBI-triple as part of scoring a pair of runs in the second and third innings to take a 4-2 lead. Pearce notched his third hit of the night with a single to score Rey Rivera in the sixth to extend the Whitecaps lead to 6-2. The Whitecaps enjoyed their most significant offensive output of August, as the six runs for the Whitecaps in the victory marks just the second time West Michigan has scored six or more runs in the game in August.

Dayton starter Austin Orewiler (5-5) tossed six innings while giving up six runs in taking his fifth loss of the year. Bass finishes the month of August with 31 innings while allowing just 19 hits and posting a 1.74 ERA.
