Barzal and Bear Named Western Conference First Team All-Stars

KENT - The Western Hockey League announced today the Western and Eastern Conference All-Star Teams for its 50th Season.

Center Mathew Barzal and defenseman Ethan Bear were each named a Western Conference First Team All-Star.

Barzal finished 11th in the WHL in scoring this season with 27 points and 61 assists for 88 points. Barzal was named the team's MVP at the team awards ceremony following the game on Saturday, March 19. Barzal was selected by the New York Islanders in the first round, 16th overall, in the 2015 NHL draft

Bear finished fifth the season fifth in the WHL in scoring among defensemen. Bear had 19 goals and 46 assists for 65 points. Bear was named the Defenseman of the Year at the team awards ceremony. Bear was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round, 124th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft.

The T-Birds will open the playoffs at ShoWare Center on Friday, March 25, at 7:35pm against the Prince George Cougars. Game 2 of the best-of-seven first round series will be Saturday, March 26, at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.

Games 3 and 4 of the series are on Tuesday, March 29, and Wednesday, March 30, at the CN Centre in Prince George. Both games start at 7pm.

Single game playoff tickets are currently on sale on the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday game days at noon.
