
Barons Power Past Rochester, 4-2

CLEVELAND, OH - Ryane Clowe returned to the Barons lineup from San Jose scoring two goals to lead the Barons to a 4-2 win over Rochester on Wednesday night. Garrett Stafford added a goal and assist as Cleveland scored three power play goals. Rochester, who entered the game with the league's top-ranked power play failed to score with the man-advantage in six opportunities.
Entering tonight's action the Barons had led after one period of play on home ice just twice all season. With goals from Garrett Stafford and Patrick Rissmiller the team improved to three games with a first period lead at 2-0. Stafford's goal occurred at the 4:55mark on a power play, his fourth goal of the season. The Barons defenseman then assisted on the second goal of the game setting up Patrick Rissmiller with his 10th goal of the year. The barons out-shot Rochester 15-12 in the opening twenty minutes.
Ryane Clowe returned to the Barons from San Jose yesterday and made his presence known right away with two second period goals extending the Barons lead to 4-0 after forty minutes of action. Clowe's first goal of the night, and his third of the season came on the power play just 74-seconds into the stanza. The Barons power forward, who has registered a point in all four games he has played with Cleveland this year tallied his second of the period at the 12:43 mark.
The Amerks made a valiant attempt at the comeback scoring two early third period goals, but came up short falling to the Barons 4-2. Nolan Schaefer made 8-saves down the stretch to preserve the win improving his record to 4-3-0. Danielle Paille scored his second goal of the season to register Rochester's first goal of the night. Only 12-seconds later, Drew Larman scored his fourth of the year to trim the lead to 4-2 for the Barons.
The win for the Barons was their first on home ice in seven games dating back to November 13th when they beat Rochester 6-3.
The Barons four-game home stand continues Friday and Saturday at National City Rink at The Q. Friday night is "Legends Night" with the Barons as the team inducts a new class of honorees into the Cleveland Hockey Legends Ring of Honor. The "Legends" ceremony will take place prior to the Barons game against Toronto at 7:15pm. Then on Saturday its another "Barons Kids Day Matinee" game at 1 O'clock with Rochester returning to the Rock 'N Roll city. Tickets for both games are available at the Quicken Loans Arena Box Office.
