Murray named alternate captain
December 14, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros head coach Rob Daum has announced that veteran centerman Rem Murray will serve as an alternate captain for the remainder of the 2005-06 season. Murray joins Erik Westrum and Curtis Murphy as alternates along with captain Kirby Law. Kurtis Foster was also an alternate captain before being recalled by the NHL's Minnesota Wild in November.
Murray, 33 (10/9/72), joined the Aeros October 15 after having not played in 21 months due to a cervical dystonia, a nerve disorder in his neck. He's a veteran of eight NHL seasons and 551 games with Edmonton, the New York Rangers and Nashville. He has 11 points (3-8=11) in 24 games this season for the Aeros and is a big part of a penalty kill unit that has knocked down 48-of-49 shorthanded chances at Toyota Center in the last nine games.
The Aeros begin a five-game holiday homestand this Friday and Saturday against the Peoria Rivermen. Gametime both nights is 7:35 p.m.
Click here to buy single game tickets, also available by calling 1.866.GO.AEROS or at most area Randalls locations. For group ticket information, please call the Aeros office at 713.974.PUCK.
Friday, the first 3,000 fans will receive a Josh Harding/Patrick O'Sullivan/Roman Voloshenko Nesting Doll. Saturday, the first 5,000 fans will get an Aeros Santa Hat. Saturday is also the Aeros' annual Teddy Bear Toss. Bring a new stuffed animal to the game to throw on the ice after the Aeros' first goal. Toys will be distributed to Houston-area children.
