Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Over the past two seasons, the River Bandits have dedicated themselves to providing families of the Quad Cities with the high-value combination of top-flight entertainment, great food, outstanding customer service and affordable pricing.
The people of the Quad Cities have taken notice, and as a result the River Bandits have won the Quad-City Times Readers' Choice 2009 award for Best Family Entertainment in the Quad Cities.
"Affordable family entertainment is what River Bandits baseball is all about, and having our fans tells us that we do it better than anybody else is the most gratifying compliment we could receive," said team owner Dave Heller. "We always strive first and foremost to put our fans first. We empower our fans to help make important decisions regarding the franchise, we treat them like kings and queens when they enter our ballpark, and we have continually increased both the quality and the quantity of entertainment while lowering or maintaining prices across the board. The Readers' Choice Award is a great sign that our approach is working."
The Quad-City Times Readers' Choice survey is held annually to determine the best that the Quad Cities has to offer in a variety of categories. In the "Best Family Entertainment" category, the River Bandits beat out a number of popular family-oriented attractions in a highly competitive field. In order from second to fifth, the other attractions that placed were Comedy Sportz, the IMAX Theater Putnam Museum, the Figge Art Center, and any North Scott High School sporting event.
"Another great season of River Bandits baseball is winding down, but there are three exciting games left for people to enjoy the best family entertainment in the Quad Cities before the season ends," said Vice President and General Manager Kirk Goodman. "From Modern Woodmen Half-Price Night to Thirst-day Thursday and our first ever Bandit Wedding, the three remaining home games from September 2-4 give us the chance to close out the year with a bang. It will also enable those who may not have made it out to Modern Woodmen Park this year the opportunity to see what all the buzz is about."
UP NEXT: The River Bandits continue an eight-game road stretch with the opener of a four-game series at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night in Clinton, and will be back at Modern Woodmen Park for the final three regular season home games of the year from September 2-4. The action resumes with a Modern Woodmen Half-Price night on Wednesday, September 2, as the first 1,000 fans will get a special River Bandits hat and the famous Klement's racing sausages will be in attendance. The last Thirst-day Thursday of the year will also be Tattoo Night, and fans that get a free River Bandits tattoo will be able to show it at the box office for a free berm ticket to any game in 2010! Lastly, the 2009 regular season will conclude with Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, September 4, featuring the first-ever Bandit Wedding and one last pyrotechnic extravaganza on a Fireworks Friday!
ABOUT THE BANDITS: The Quad Cities River Bandits set a new post-renovation mark for single-season attendance when the team passed the 2008 figure with six games remaining in 2009. Ticket sales, concessions, merchandise sales, sponsorships and even Kids' Zone revenues are all up over last season, which was one of the team's best in history!
