
Bandits Drop First Game At Home Despite Late Inning Push

Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Quad Cities River Bandits fought their way back within four but they were handed their first loss at home against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 9-5, and their record dropped to 9-3.
Eric Fornataro (1-2) made his third start for Quad Cities and recorded his second loss of the season. Fornataro went five innings, allowing ten hits and five runs-four earned. He struck out one and walked one in his losing effort. LaCurtis Mayes was first in relief for the Bandits. He pitched two innings and allowed four runs, all earned, walked two and fanned one. Christopher Corrigan closed out the final two innings for the home team, he allowed just one hit and punched out one. Andre Lamontagne (1-0) was the winning pitcher for the Rattlers, it was his first win of the season.
Offensively, the Bandits scored five runs on eight hits. Devin Shepherd hit a grand slam, his second big fly of the season, in the seventh inning to bring the deficit within four, but Quad Cities was unable to bring anymore runs across the plate. Shepherd had four RBI on the day bringing his season total to twelve. Ryan Jackson extended his hitting streak to nine games by hitting a ground ball up the middle in the seventh. Ivan Castro was the only Bandit with a multi-hit day, he was 2-for-4 with a double in the contest, while Frederick Parejo and Niko Vasquez each added a double.
The River Bandits hit the road and travel to Beloit, Wisconsin to take on the Snappers on Tuesday evening. Michael Blazek is schedule to make his second start of the season. The righty will take on fellow right-hander Miguel Munoz. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at Pohlman Field.
