
Aviators Shu Oout Miners 4-0 for 8th Straight Win

Tanner Witt homered and drove in an additional run while Kyle Hassna and the Aviators pitching staff shutout Southern Illinois for the second straight night as Rockford (8-0) defeated the Miners 4-0 in Frontier League baseball action at Rent One Park Saturday in Marion, IL. The victory was Rockford's eighth straight to begin the 2015 campaign while the Miners dropped to 5-3 for the season.
Hassna (2-0) had another superb outing for the Aviators as the righthander yielded just three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Eric Cendejas, Matt Frahm and Colby Holmes each pitched a scoreless inning in relief to seal the victory, with Holmes striking out the side to close out the game. Lefthander Ryan Brockett (0-1) took the loss for the Miners despite a quality start in which he gave up only two runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
The two teams close out their series on Sunday (5:05 pm CT) before the Aviators return home to begin a six game homestand on Tuesday (May 26, 6:35 pm) against the Joliet Slammers at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL.
