
Aviators Drop 15-1 Decision to Joliet

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, struggled at the plate and on the mound in a 15-1 loss to Joliet Tuesday night at Aviators Stadium.
The Slammers (14-20) got on the board with a Nick Akins home run. Akins would go on to hit two home runs, a double, two singles, collect six RBIs and score three runs in the game. Joliet scored in every inning but the first and the seventh.
Rockford (7-26) got its lone run in the bottom of the seventh when Matt Greener scored on a Tyler Smith two-out, RBI single. The run was unearned, as Greener reached on an error to start the inning.
Trevor Harden didn't have his best stuff and took the loss, dropping his season record to 2-4. Joliet starter Chuck Lofgren got the win to improve his record to 4-2 on the year.
Game two of the series is tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park.
