JOLIET SLAMMERS (13-20) @ ROCKFORD AVIATORS (7-25)

Tuesday, June 25 - 7:05 p.m. CT

Aviators Stadium - Loves Park, IL

Game #34 - Road Game #16 (13-20), (5-10)

Last time out...

Nick Akins hit a grand slam in the first inning and Kolin Conner added a solo home run as the Joliet Slammers beat the Gateway Grizzlies by a final score of 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at Silver Cross Field. It was Gateway striking first as Chris McClendon smacked a solo home run in the top of the first but the Akins grand slam in the bottom of the frame put Joliet ahead for good. Gateway chipped away in the second and the third against Joliet starter Brett Zawacki as they tallied one run in each inning. But two runs in the third and one more in the fifth on Conner's first professional home run gave Joliet all the insurance they needed to snap their three-game losing streak. Justin Erasmus tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn his sixth save of the season. Michael Wing had a big day at the plate for Joliet, going 2-4 with two runs scored and a RBI.

For Starters...

Chuck Lofgren is coming off a great outing against the Evansville Otters where he went six shutout innings as the Slammers prevailed 6-0. He struck out seven and only allowed two hits in the victory. Lofgren, 27, was a fourth round selection of the Cleveland Indians in the 2004 MLB draft out of Serra High School in San Mateo, California. Lofgren's decorated professional career includes being named the starting pitcher for the 2006 Carolina League All-Star Game. Lofgren followed that up by being named to the United States team for the 2007 All-Star Futures Game. The United States roster that year also included the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Matt Garza and Justin Upton. He pitched for the Cleveland organization from 2004-2009, the Milwaukee organization from 2009-2010 and the San Francisco organization from 2010-2011. Last season, Lofgren pitched for the Amarillo Sox of the American Association. Most recently, he was with the Brisbane Bandits of the Australian Baseball League. Lofgren has appeared in a total of 47 games at the Triple-A level during his professional career.
