
Austin Spurs Come up Short to Wisconsin Herd

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Austin Spurs (8-7), presented by SWBC, fell to the Wisconsin Herd (13-2) by a final score of 120-114 on Tuesday night.
San Antonio Spurs assignee Keldon Johnson posted 32 points (12-17 FG, 4-5 3FG, 2-2 FT) and 8 rebounds in 32 minutes. Drew Eubanks recorded 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks in 30 minutes. Daulton Hommes tallied 15 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes.
Austin collected the game's first basket, but the Herd responded by scoring 14 of the next 19 points. Wisconsin grabbed an early double-digit lead and with just under two and half minutes remaining in the frame, the Herd pushed their advantage to 20.
The second quarter was the most efficient for Austin as the team shot nearly 60 percent from the floor and totaled 32 points. The Spurs were unable to cut their deficit inside 13 points. Austin managed to trim nine points off what was once a 22-point Wisconsin lead, but the Herd still maintained a 68-55 advantage at the intermission.
The Spurs opened the third on an extended 18-7 run. After cutting the Wisconsin lead to two with 7:15 remaining in the quarter, Austin tied the game at 75 on a free throw by Eubanks. On the next possession, the Spurs gained their first lead since the opening seconds of the game when Kenny Williams scored on a driving layup. The Spurs outpaced the Herd by 14 in the frame and led 85-84 heading into the final 12 minutes.
Wisconsin trailed by two with 9:49 left to play in the contest, but the Herd used a 12-3 spurt to retake the lead for the remainder of the game, coming away with the 120-114 victory.
For Wisconsin, Rayjon Tucker put up 35 points and 4 rebounds in 36 minutes. Jemerrio Jones recorded a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds in 34 minutes. Frank Mason posted 22 points and 9 assists in 31 minutes.
