
Horton-Tucker's Career Night Not Enough in Loss to Stockton

STOCKTON, CA - The South Bay Lakers had their highest scoring game of the season, but they lost their third consecutive road game as they fell to the Stockton Kings, 142-134, on Tuesday night. Talen Horton-Tucker had the best game of his career for South Bay (8-7), finishing with 33 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and four steals. The Kings (10-5) hit an NBA G League record-tying 31 three-pointers in the win.
South Bay leaned on Travis Wear in the first quarter, as the sharp-shooting big man poured in 15 points in the opening frame, but the Lakers found themselves down by three, 38-35, after one. Wear finished the first half with 23 points, but the Kings held on to their lead, 75-68, at the break.
Stockton extended their lead through three, 108-99, behind 11 points apiece from Vincent and Isaiah Canaan in the frame. Gary Payton II scored 13 points in the third to keep his team within striking distance. Despite falling behind by as many as 23 points in the fourth, the Lakers rallied back to get within one point but could not secure the win down the stretch. Horton-Tucker scored 15 points (6-10 FG) in the final period.
Vincent scored 35 points (9-14 3FG) off the bench and Cody Demps paced the starters with 27 of his own. Marcus Graves scored 21 points and Canaan tallied a 20-point, 10-assist double-double. Kyle Guy (18 points) and Isaiah Pineiro (11 points) also reached double figures in the win.
Horton-Tucker's big night paced South Bay, while Payton II scored a season-high 38 points (14-23 FG) along with 12 rebounds, three assists, four steals and one block. Wear also scored a season-best with 26 points, six rebounds, eight assists, one steal and a block. Reggie Hearn scored in double figures with 18 points and Jordan Caroline tallied seven points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
South Bay now heads to Las Vegas for the MGM Resorts Winter Showcase where they will face the Lakeland Magic on Thursday, December 19 at 2:30pm from the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
