PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, picked up their 11th consecutive win after defeating the Northern Arizona Suns 93-77 on Tuesday night at Findlay Toyota Center.
The Stars were paced by Trevon Bluiett, who finished with a game-high 20 points, knocking down 5-of-8 (.625) from beyond the arc. Utah Jazz assignment player Nigel Williams-Goss finished with 18 points, seven assists and three steals, while Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley tallied his second double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Jared Harper led the way for the Suns, notching 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Anthony Lawrence II (12 points), Daxter Miles Jr. (11 points) and Ahmed Hill (10 points) added double figure scoring efforts, while Norense Odiase (8 points and 11 rebounds) and Aaron Epps (8 points and 10 rebounds) each tallied double-digit rebounds for Northern Arizona.
Salt Lake City started the game on an 8-0 run and led by as many as 10 points (15-5) with 6:12 left to play in the opening quarter. Northern Arizona struck back, outscoring the Stars 16-7 from that point to make it a one-point Stars lead (22-21) at the end of the first period. Salt Lake City pushed their lead to 16 points with 3:03 left to play in the first half, but the Suns closed the frame on an 11-0 run to shorten the Stars' lead to five points (51-46).
The third quarter was a back-and-forth contest, with neither team eclipsing 20 points in the period. The Stars turned up the heat in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Suns 29-13 in the final frame to take home the 16-point victory (93-77).
The Stars held the advantage in turnovers (15-21), steals (11-5), fast break points (17-12) and bench points (38-28), while the Suns grabbed more rebounds (46-42), tallied more points in the paint (50-40), and dished out more assists (20-17).
Salt Lake City will head to Las Vegas to compete in the MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase Tournament. The Stars will take on the Wisconsin Herd on Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. (MT) at Manadaly Bay Convention Center. The game will be broadcast live on NBAGLeague.com.
