Skyforce Beat Buzzer, Legends in OT

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Texas Legends (9-7) fell in an overtime heart-breaker to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (7-9) 93-90 Tuesday night to even up the season series 1-1.

Texas grabbed the first points of the game with a long ball from Dakota Mathias and held the lead until the final two minutes when another long jumper, this time from Mychal Mulder, put Sioux Falls on top at the 2:19 marker. The Skyforce took their largest lead of the night seconds before halftime going up 17, but Mathias got the last shot of the quarter to make it a 14-point deficit at the break.

Texas burst into the second half with a 21-5 streak through the first six minutes of play to take a two-point advantage. Sioux Falls tied it up four times, but Texas had an answer for each until Kyle Alexander got the go-ahead for the home team. The Skyforce finished with five straight to go up 72-65 heading into the fourth. Sioux Falls led the entire fourth quarter, but Texas stayed within seven and Chad Brown knocked down both attempts at the free throw line to tie it up with 27 seconds to play. Missed opportunities on both ends sent the game to overtime where Daryl Macon and Nate Mason exchanged baskets for another tie before Davon Reed's buzzer beater stole the game for the Skyforce.

Dakota Mathias led the Legends with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists while Antonius Cleveland had a game-high 15 boards to go with 11 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Chad Brown grabbed a game and season-high 4 blocks for the Legends and Josh Reaves and Nate Mason added 17 points apiece to round out the double-digit scorers. Reaves knocked down 5-of-8 outside and Mason finished with 6 rebounds and a game-high 7 assists.

Daryl Macon and Davon Reed led all scorers with 19 each. Reed hit 5-of-9 outside and added 6 rebounds while Macon grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 4 assists. KZ Okpala added 15 points, 3 rebounds and Marcus Lee grabbed 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench.

Both teams will head to the NBA G League Showcase in Las Vegas beginning Thursday. Texas will open the winter tournament against the Windy City Bulls Thursday at 5:30pm CT. Fans can catch all the action live on www.TexLegends.com.
