SALT LAKE CITY - The Austin Spurs (10-9), presented by SWBC, ended Salt Lake City's (14-3) 14-game winning streak with a 117-108 win on the road Saturday night.
Quinndary Weatherspoon had a game-high 26 points, along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists in 30 minutes. Dedric Lawson put up 19 points and 7 rebounds in 32 minutes.
San Antonio Spurs assignee Luka Samanic recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in 27 minutes. Spurs assignee Keldon Johnson posted 18 points and 6 rebounds in 27 minutes, while Spurs assignee Chimezie Metu tallied 10 points and 7 rebounds in 25 minutes.
Salt Lake City began the game on a 7-2 run, but the Spurs gained their first lead of the game halfway through the first quarter at 17-16. The game remained close throughout the first half, with the first quarter ending in a tie at 29 and the second quarter ending in a 55-51 Austin lead.
The Spurs grew their lead in the third and were up by as many as 16 points (73-57) with six minutes left to play in the quarter. The third concluded with Austin up 87-76.
The Stars came within 6 points (111-105) with two minutes left in the game, but the Spurs hung onto their lead for the remainder of the contest and earned a 117-108 victory.
For Salt Lake City, Paul White had 22 points and 7 rebounds in 32 minutes. Nigel Williams-Goss added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 33 minutes.
