CANTON, OH - A 35-point first quarter propelled the Canton Charge (12-6), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, to a 107-91 victory over the Long Island Nets (6-12) on Saturday evening at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
J.P. Macura burst into the game, netting the Charge's first eight points to spark Canton to a 12-1 lead that the Nets were never able to recover from. Dean Wade chipped in seven points on a 3-for-6 shooting line in the first to help the Charge to 35 points, which is the third most the team has scored in a quarter this season.
Levi Randolph carried the momentum into the second quarter with a 2-for-3 shooting performance from behind the arc for a team-high eight points in the second. Canton's defense remained dominant in the first half with 5 steals, 24 defensive rebounds, and allowing only 41 points, tying the season record for fewest opponent points in the first half.
Macura led the Charge with 19 points, shooting 7-for-10 from the field. Two-way player Tyler Cook notched his second double-double of the season with 16 points and a team-high 12 rebounds while Randolph netted his eighth-career double-double 13 points and 10 boards.
