Houston, TEXAS - Austin FC fell 2-1 to Houston Dynamo on Saturday night at Shell Energy Stadium.
The Verde & Black scored the opening goal with a header from Gyasi Zardes, assisted by a powerful long cross from Nick Lima in the 22nd minute. This marks Zardes' 100th career goal in MLS and his third consecutive MLS match with a goal. Houston managed to score an equalizer in the 37th minute when Héctor Herrera found a loose ball in the box and shot it into the bottom left corner.
Goalkeeper Brad Stuver made a crucial save in the 57th minute, making a diving save on a shot from Herrera to keep the score tied at 1-1. Maxi Urruti's shot in the 79th minute came close to giving Austin the lead, but his shot sailed just wide of the post. Houston found the late game-winner in the 87th minute after a corner kick got lost in the box and Iván Franco was able to push the ball into the back of the net.
