
Augusta Drops third Straight to Greenville

Greenville, SC - The Augusta GreenJackets (34-26) lost their third straight game to the Greenville Drive (34-27) on Thursday night with a 6-4 loss. Nick Noonan drove in three runs to give Augusta a late lead in the seventh inning but reliever Dan Turpen allowed four runs in the eighth inning as Greenville rallied back for the win.
Trailing 4-2 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Drive got back-to-back RBI singles from Jared Stanley and Luis Exposito to tie the game at 4-4 with one out. Ty Weeden then came through with a two-out, two-run single to put the Drive up 6-4.
Turpen (3-3) allowed all four runs on five hits in 1.2 innings. The right-hander also walked one and struck out two.
Augusta trailed 2-0 most the game before plating four runs in the seventh inning to take a 4-2 lead. Charlie Culberson had an RBI sac-fly to break up the shutout then Noonan came through with a two-out, three-run double to put Augusta up 4-2.
Starter Madison Bumgarner got the no-decision allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. The lefty walked one and struck out five.
The Drive got a pair of solo home runs from Stanley and Exposito in the second and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead.
The GreenJackets return home for a three game series against the Hickory Crawdads on Friday. Augusta sends right-hander T.J. Brewer (3-4, 4.05) to the mound in the first game of the series. The Crawdads counter with right-hander Bradley Clapp (0-4, 3.89). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
Game Notes:
Augusta fell to 17-11 on the road this season.
