Columbus Catfish News Release
Columbus, GA - The Columbus Catfish (21-39) dropped their 4th straight series, this one to Savannah (27-33) by a final score of 5-0.
Savannah did all the scoring in this one, putting up 2 in the 3rd, 1 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th. In the 3rd, shortstop Matt Bouchard ripped a triple to right center to score Jacob Eigsti and then Richard Pena hit a sacrifice fly to Bouchard in center field. In the 8th, Jordan Abruzzo doubles to left center field to score Pena. In the 9th, Francisco Pena hit a solo home run to left field and Richard Pena drove in Eigsti with a single to left field.
Columbus was led by Shawn O'Malley, who went 2-4 with a double. Woods Fines picked up his 3rd loss in 4 starts despite allowing only 3 hits and 2 earned runs in 5 innings of work.
The Pena brothers (only by last name) did in the Catfish tonight, as Francisco hit a home run and Richard drove in 2 runners. Jacob Eigsti went 2-4, scoring twice and Jordan Abruzzo had 2 hits. Angel Calero picked up his 3rd win of the season after allowing only 6 hits in 7 innings of work.
The Catfish take to the road for a 7-game homestand beginning with Rome tomorrow night at 7 pm.
The Catfish are the Class A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
