The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman MARK POPOVIC (poh-PUH-vihk) from the Chicago Wolves.
The 23-year-old blueliner has tallied a power-play goal and an assist in three games with the Wolves, matching his entire goal total from last season.
The Stoney Creek, Ontario, native collected 17 assists, 18 points and 47 penalty minutes in 74 games with the American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks last year. He shared first on the team with a +16 plus/minus rating. POPOVIC also registered career-highs with three assists and five points in 11 playoff games.
POPOVIC, who made his National Hockey League debut with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Jan. 2, 2004, against the Buffalo Sabres, joins fellow Wolves goaltenders ADAM BERKHOEL and MICHAEL GARNETT in Atlanta.
