Abbotsford Heat News Release

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights earned their first ever home win on Saturday night, shutting out the San Antonio Rampage 2-0 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Left wing Cam Severson scored his first goal of the season early in the first period, and goaltender Curtis McElhinney made it stand up with 20 saves for his first professional win.

Severson tallied 12:07 into the game, whipping a feed from Tomi Maki under sprawling goaltender Steve Passmore. Passmore kept the game within reach for San Antonio, stopping 34 of the 35 shots he faced in the game.

McElhinney wasn't as busy, but he still had to make some quality saves, none bigger than a point-blank stop of Martin Podlesak early in the third period.

With Passmore pulled for an extra attacker in the last minute of the third, Warren Peters took a pass from Richie Regehr and hit the empty net from center ice for his second goal of the season. The Knights' 2-0 win is also their second shutout in their first four games this season.

The win improves the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights record to 2-2-0-0 this season. They return to action next Tuesday, October 18th, when they host the Houston Aeros at 7:00 p.m. The two teams will square off again on Thursday, October 20th, before the Knights play in Grand Rapids on Saturday, October 22nd.

Tickets for all home games are on sale at the Civic Auditorium box office, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets may be purchased by calling 422-1212 or at Ticketmaster.com.
