Manchester Monarchs News Release

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings have placed center Derek Armstrong on the injured reserve list (retroactive to November 16) due to a broken ring finger on his left hand, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. In addition, the Kings have removed defenseman Maxim Kuznetsov from the club's suspended list and loaned him to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League for conditioning purposes.

Armstrong, 30, was injured in the final seconds of the Kings-St. Louis Blues contest on Saturday. The 6-foot-0, 195-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario, has appeared in 16 games with the Kings this season recording 10 points (6-4=10) and four penalty minutes. Armstrong, whose six goals co-lead the team, is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with the injury. He has appeared in 168 career NHL games with the Kings, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders, recording 67 points (27-40=67) and 90 penalty minutes.

Kuznetsov, 26, has not played this season after failing to report to training camp due to travel visa problems. He was officially suspended by the club on October 7 before joining the Kings in Tampa Bay on November 6. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound native of Pavlodar, Russia, appeared in three games with the Kings last season recording zero points and zero penalty minutes after being acquired from the Detroit Red Wings in a multi-player deal on March 11, 2003. In 53 games with Detroit last season, Kuznetsov recorded three assists (0-3=3) and 54 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 120 NHL games with the Kings and Red Wings recording nine points (2-7=9) and 117 penalty minutes.

The Kings (8-6-1-1) conclude their three-game home stand Wednesday versus the Nashville Predators at 10:30 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net, ESPN Radio 710 - KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network. Tomorrow's coverage on Fox begins at 7 p.m. with "Break the Ice."
