Hamilton extends unbeaten streak to six games

ST. JOHN'S, NF - The Hamilton Bulldogs extended their unbeaten streak to six games as they defeated the St. John's Maple Leafs 5-2 at Mile One Stadium on Tuesday night. With the victory the Bulldogs record improves to 10 wins, 5 losses, 1 tie and 1overtime loss. Hamilton now becomes the first AHL team this season to reach the 10-win mark. As well, the Bulldogs are in a four way tie for first place overall in the AHL with 22 points.

Bulldogs captain Benoit Gratton led Hamilton offensively on Tuesday night with two goals and two assists. Gratton now leads the AHL in scoring with 21 points (9-12-21).

Forward Pierre Dagenais also had a great night for the Bulldogs, as he scored two goals. Dagenais is now the Bulldogs top goal scorer with 10 goals on the season.

Eero Somervuori added an empty-net goal to seal the victory for the Bulldogs.

The Maple Leafs goals came from Kyle Wellwood and Chris Chartier.

Bulldogs goaltender Eric Fichaud picked up his seventh win of the season by making 33 saves on the night. Sebastien Centomo stopped 27 shots in the Maple Leafs loss.

The Bulldogs scored twice on three power play opportunities. St. John's went 0 for 5 with the man-advantage.

The Hamilton Bulldogs will face the St. John's Maple Leafs tomorrow night in a rematch at Mile One Stadium in St. John's. Bulldogs fans can listen to Derek Wills call all the action, beginning with the pre-game show at 5:55 p.m., on 820 CHAM and on-line at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com
