August 31, 2012 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Eastlake, OH - In just his second career Class A game, Willie Argo collected two hits, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods (40-27, 78-59) fell to the Lake County Captians (38-29, 69-67) 9-3 on Friday night at Classic Park. The win for Lake County clinches a three-game series sweep over the Hot Rods, who completed the final road trip of the 2012 regular season 4-3.
Kes Carter began the game with a double into centerfield, setting up the Hot Rods to score a run in the top of the first inning. His two-bagger was followed up by a bunt single from Juniel Querecuto. Jake Hager then grounded into a 6-4-3 double play that brought in the run, and the Hot Rods took a 1-0 lead.
The middle third of the contest, innings four through six, saw the two teams battle back and forth. The Captains tied the score in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Cameron Seitzer placed the Hot Rods back in front with a two-out RBI-single in the fifth. Lake County tied the score again in the bottom half, but Carter's RBI-single with two outs in the sixth gave Bowling Green the lead again.
However, the Captains tied the score in the bottom of the sixth and scored six times in the seventh and eighth to coast to the sweep-clinching victory.
The final three regular season games will see the Hot Rods host the Fort Wayne TinCaps at Bowling Green Ballpark for a series that starts Saturday night at 7:05 PM. The Hot Rods will start LHP Jake Partridge (5-1, 2.53), while the TinCaps will counter with LHP Frank Garces (9-6, 2.85).
